Pinnacle Chess Team
Takes 5th in Bloomington Tournament
The Pinnacle School Chess Team had a strong
showing at the Bloomington Tournament on April 18th. Twelve students
competed against schools from Bloomington and Indianapolis. Dr. Lessow coached today, and many parents came to support the team.
Last year's team, the first to play in the
tournament, began the Pinnacle tradition of chess competition.
This year's team has practiced throughout the year, and advanced
considerably in rank, taking the 5th spot out of 8 schools. Owen
Walters, a Pinnacle 4th grader, was named the most improved new player,
earning the equivalent of "rookie of the year" honors.
Dr. Lessow commented, "I am very proud of
our team! Each member showed skill at chess and terrific sportsmanship.
They represented themselves, their families and Pinnacle School well. We
are looking forward to our next tournament."
